Care & Maintenance Guide
Thank you for choosing our high-quality fake display items. Proper care and maintenance will ensure that your fake bread rolls, fake sauces, and other display items remain in pristine condition for years to come. Follow these guidelines to keep your items looking their best.
1. General Care Instructions
-
Handling: Always handle the fake items with clean, dry hands to avoid transferring oils or dirt. If possible, use gloves to prevent smudges or fingerprints.
-
Placement: Keep items away from direct sunlight, as prolonged exposure may cause fading or discoloration. Place them in cool, dry areas away from heat sources such as stoves, radiators, or heaters.
-
Avoid Moisture: Do not expose the items to water, as this can compromise the materials and adhesives used.
2. Cleaning Fake Bread Rolls. Bagels, Crackers etc.
-
Dusting: Use a soft, dry cloth or a feather duster to remove surface dust. For more intricate details, a small paintbrush or makeup brush can be used.
-
Bread products with sesame seeds: Although these items have been double sealed, we recommend storing them in airtight containers overnight for added protection.
-
Panini: The dusting on the surface is made of plaster, not flour. If the dusting wears off, DO NOT apply flour. White 'stippling' beneath the plaster simulates the appearance of flour.
3. Cleaning Fake Sauces
-
Surface Dust: Wipe gently with a dry microfiber cloth to remove dust.
4. Care for Display Items: Fake Cakes, Cupcakes, Macarons, Donuts & Drinks
Your display items have been carefully handcrafted to look as realistic as possible. To help preserve their appearance and ensure longevity, please follow the care instructions below:
General Guidelines for All Fake Food Items
-
Indoor Use Only: These items are not weatherproof and should be kept indoors, away from direct sunlight, rain, or extreme temperatures.
-
Avoid Heat: Keep away from heat sources (e.g., heaters, stovetops, direct sunlight through windows), as high temperatures can cause warping, melting, or surface damage.
-
Do Not Eat: These are not edible and are for display purposes only. Please keep out of reach of small children and pets.
-
Handling: Always handle with clean, dry hands. Oils and moisture from fingers can affect the finish over time.
Fake Cakes & Fake Cupcakes
-
Storage: Store in a cool, dry space when not on display. A lidded container or display dome helps protect from dust.
-
Cleaning: Gently wipe with a dry, soft cloth or use a soft makeup brush to remove dust. Avoid water or cleaning sprays.
-
Transporting: Wrap securely in bubble wrap or soft cloth and place in a sturdy box. Avoid pressure on decorations like frosting swirls or toppings.
Fake Donuts & Fake Macarons
-
Display Use: Great for props, shop displays, or styling, but should be placed in low-traffic areas to avoid being accidentally touched.
-
Cleaning: Use a soft brush or compressed air (on a low setting) to remove any dust from textured surfaces.
-
Storage: Store in a box or display tray when not in use. Avoid stacking unless cushioned, as faux icing or glaze details can be damaged.
Fake Drinks (Cocktails, Coffees, etc.)
-
Careful Placement: Always display upright on a flat surface to avoid tipping or damage to delicate details like foam, garnishes, or straws.
-
Avoid direct sunlight/lighting – drinks may fade/discolour
-
Cleaning: Wipe the glass or outer cup gently with a dry or slightly damp microfiber cloth—avoid getting moisture on faux liquids or toppings.
-
Avoid Humidity: Keep away from damp areas or high-humidity environments, which can cause condensation or surface clouding on glasses.
Extra Tips
-
Photography & Styling: Fake food looks best under soft lighting. Avoid direct flash, which can create unnatural reflections on glossy surfaces. Always look for the 'best' side/angle.
-
Long-Term Display: Occasionally rotate items out of direct light to minimize any fading or discoloration over time.
-
Repairs: If any part becomes loose or detached, use a clear craft adhesive or contact the maker for repair advice.
5. Long-Term Storage
-
Protective Covers: When not on display, store items in a dust-free environment, such as a storage container. Ensure they are completely dry before storing.
-
Temperature Control: Store in a cool, dry place with stable temperatures to prevent warping or cracking. Some natural cracking may occur on certain buns—particularly on the base and sides. All cracked areas have been double sealed for durability.
6. Additional Tips
-
Keep Out of Reach: Place items in locations inaccessible to children or pets to prevent accidental damage.
-
Rotate Displays: If using these items in a store or exhibit, rotate them occasionally to minimize wear and tear from constant exposure.
-
Inspect Regularly: Periodically check for signs of wear, damage, or dirt buildup, and address these issues promptly.
By following this guide, your fake food displays will continue to look fresh and fabulous for years to come! If you have any questions about care or maintenance, feel free to reach out.
Custom Fake Food Creations
Custom Orders & Non-Refundable Project Start Fee
All custom orders require a non-refundable Project Start Fee of 40% to confirm the order and begin production. This fee secures your place in the schedule and covers the time, materials, and design work involved in starting your project.
The Project Start Fee will be deducted from your final invoice.
If you cancel your order after payment of the Project Start Fee, the fee is non-refundable, regardless of how far into production the item is. Additional charges may apply for work already completed beyond the initial 40%.
Please note that many custom items are unique in size, shape, or subject matter and may not be suitable for resale.
Customer-supplied items (like cups, bowls, or servingware):
Any items you send will become part of the project and will not be returned, regardless of the outcome. This includes cases where the recreation is not successful. Due to the nature of the materials and techniques I use, once items are incorporated or tested with products, they can’t be safely removed or reused.
